Sometimes it’s just getting back to the basics that help you get on track with your weight. I’ve been really bad the last 3-4 weeks about my eating and the scale is not letting me get away with it. My clothes feel tight and I just don’t like it. The frustration of how I feel in my clothes finally was enough to make me stop in my tracks. Also- that feeling of constant fullness was starting to make me see how I was hurting my body. Over-eating is not the way to show love to my body.
Today I decided I needed to track my calories again, just to see what I am doing. The reality check came when I realized that by 11am I had already eaten 1000 calories! Yeah! I have many excuses: traveling, my hip won’t let me workout right now, stress, and a few other things. But the bottom line is that I am just being lazy and not dealing with those factors in a healthy way. The excuse also comes when I say I don’t know the exact macros (carb/protein/fat) ratios to use that are ‘just’ right for my body. But here’s the deal, if I am not working out because of my hip and am daily eating 2000+ calories, the scale is going to go up. Forget stressing out about the macros, I just need to get my eating under control.
So if you are struggling with your weight, one simple thing that can help is just to track your calories. If you are being faithful and not seeing results you will need to look at your macros, exercise program, etc. I know that it’s not always as simple as eating X amount of calories and everything falls into place. But if you are in the same place I am in that your eating is just flat out of control, use an app like myfitnesspal to track your food and it will help you get on track again. (Note: I manually go into the settings and change the daily calorie limit as they set it too low in the app, but otherwise it’s a great tool.)
