There are many ways life changes in the summer, and I know plenty of people who work so hard during the winter months because they want to feel confident when summer gets here, but then the whole summer is spent undoing that hard work! This won’t be you! Here are a few things we will talk about this month to help you plan around these 4 topics and keep up with your fitness goals:
While these are all fun and amazing things, if we don’t think ahead we may find ourselves going crazy trying to keep up with everything, and in that we lose focus on our own fitness goals.
It’s TOO HOT!
1. Hydrate. If you are working out during the day please make sure you hydrate yourself. And this goes for your pets and kids as well. It’s easy to get busy having fun and not realize that you haven’t had an adequate amount of water.
2. Early or late. I don’t know about you but when it’s super hot I don’t want to move. The thought of working out when my house is already a sauna is not fun. This is when I may need to decide to change up my workouts and get them done before the house gets too hot. When we were living in China I would blast the air on me at am. There was no way you’d find me exercising mid afternoon with the heat we had. If it’s important to you to get your workout in then make sure to adjust your schedule.
3. Water, and more water. I’m not talking about drinking it like I was in tip #1, I’m talking about playing in it! A great way to keep in shape over the summer is to get into the water and swim. You can do this alone at a gym or pool, or with your family and friends. Everyone wants to cool down and this is a great way to mix your workouts up. You could even have a massive water gun fight and assign challenges along the way. (10 push-ups if you get hit, etc…)
