I so wish I could say I’ve had a better attitude about my exercising the last few weeks but frankly it’s just been BAD. I even made a little video to encourage us during our pregnancy when we can’t always do what we’ve done before, but that doesn’t change that it can be frustrating and SO hard! For example, I am only 29 weeks pregnant this week, but honestly at this point I can’t even walk around the block without my belly starting to contract. Yes, baby is priority and I would do nothing to hurt the baby, but I admit I miss my workouts. It’s not even about my body image, it’s about the endorphins that I need to keep me sane and happy!
So today, I went for a bike ride to see if that would allow me to get my heart rate up without causing any pressure or contractions and it was successful. (Though I will have to see tomorrow how I really feel from it.) I also was able to make it to my prenatal yoga class which was SO good for my body but I can only get to this class one more time due to scheduling conflicts.
So with all of this said, I wanted to share what I DID DO today once I got out of my bad attitude and decided I need to make the most of what I CAN DO! I busted out my weights and thought if nothing else I can workout my arms. If you have light weights you can do this at home too! This took me a total of 10 minutes, so all my excuses were out the window! 🙂
I did 4 sets of 12 of each of the following exercises:
1. Shoulders! Simply lift the weights overhead as if you were putting a box up on a shelf!
2. Triceps extensions. You can use a heavier weight if you want because you are using both arms together, lift and lower the weight over your head!
3. Bicep curls! If you don’t have a bar you can just use single weights and get the same effect. Some days I put in my Les Mills Pump DVD and just do the 5 minute bicep track which is a great workout!
4. Shoulders again! Hold your weights and lift your arms up so the weights are level to your shoulders. If you find your hands go a lot higher than your elbows it may be because the weights are too heavy. Drop it down and see if you have more control.
Are you pregnant? How are you doing with your exercising and if you can’t exercise how are you handling it emotionally?
