Diets and diet plans.
Where do you begin and which one is RIGHT?
Should you go raw foods only? Paleo? Primal? Vegan? Do you need to juice every day? Low Carb? Intermittent fasting?
It’s crazy right? And what makes it hard to know what do to is that people get results with each of these methods.
I don’t believe there is ONE right diet for everyone.
You must see what works with your body. This may be frustrating, because it means you must be involved in the process and get in tune with your body in a way you may not be used to.
When following a certain diet ask yourself these questions:
- Am I happy eating this way?
- How am I feeling eating this way?
- Do I have more energy, or less energy?
- Is my body responding favorably? Am I losing weight? If so, is this worth it or would I be happier losing weight but eating differently?
- Does this way of eating allow me to still function with my daily responsibilities?
Take time to think about these questions as you try different diet ideas. Sure, there is always some discomfort in trying something new. This is where I say take baby steps. I didn’t overhaul my diet in a month. That works for some people and not for others. What I did was start making slow changes, that eventually led to me eating foods I never dreamed I’d eat. This has been a 8 year process for me! I still would like to eat cleaner, and am working on it, but I try not to stress out about it.
Self-discipline is a muscle. When you max it out after not using it for a while it will fatigue. You’ve experienced it right? You start out strong and then after a week, maybe two, you say forget it and go get _______ to eat. Build your self-discipline through small daily choices, and as the muscle gets stronger you will be able to take on greater challenges! (Example: I can give up soda easily. This doesn’t take much will power. Ice Cream? That’s a different story! So I didn’t start by saying I would never eat ice cream again. It wouldn’t happen. I still have ice cream. But my will power is built up so I don’t eat it every night like I used to!)
