Oh friends it has been too long since we have had a chill chat about life and all that is happening in my brain! There is so much!
As I have entered into 2013 I think the motto that is most prevalent in my mind is to be 'faithful in the little'. I mean I'm sure you have heard that saying at some point in your life, but what does it mean to be played out? And then take it one step further for me: "Faithful in the little, day by day by day."
I think it means a few things for me, and maybe you can relate to some of these?
1. It means I keep the house cleaned up a little everyday. We have started a 7pm 10 minute family pick up time. I'm normally the type that lets a mess pile up and then cleans it up when it's going to take an hour to get done. But learning to be faithful in the little things day by day has been doing small pick ups. To be faithful and steward the house I am living in well. (I know that for some of you this one is like 'duh', but for me it's helping not only lead to a cleaner house but also better organization in every area of life.)
2. It means I am faithful to keep my work hours set to what they are and not try and sneak work in while I am helping Joshua with homework or doing other family things. This is a joy and struggle with the fun of running a business primarily online. It also has the reverse commitment as well, when the boys are in school and I have my set aside 15 hours a week to work on my business I need to be laser focused. Ready to go with a to-do list and getting things done and not wasting time.
3. Working out and eating right. I think many times excuses are made when we think of our life as a whole rather than day by day. If I don't think about how I ate yesterday or how I will eat tomorrow- but I just think about today- I am more likely going to let myself go a little crazy. But if I think just about today- what choices am I making to treat my body well? This really helps me because one of my biggest excuses with eating can be- I'll eat better tomorrow. Or as a friend and I used to joke- 'my diet starts tomorrow'!
Being faithful in the little, day by day by day, is going to lead to some amazing new habits and skills in my life. I am excited to see what consistency brings into every area of my life. In being a more engaged mom and wife. To know my business will grow as I am faithful to those I am serving and with the time I invest into it.
I think we all have our own areas that we can step it up in. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. I hope you are encouraged though, that small steps, one after another, are going to lead you down a road you may have never dreamed you had the strength to go down!
