I ate oatmeal so much when we lived in China that I burnt myself out on it. I am a person who eats the same things all the time, and I missed the option of oatmeal but not enough to put it back into my routine. A friend of mine we were vacationing with made some steel cut oats and I am hooked. I love them.
1/3c. Steel Cut Oats (I get the quick cook ones) Follow package directions to cook.
1/2T. Chia Seeds
2T. Chopped Almonds
1/4c. Blueberries or fruit of your choice.
I think the almonds and the thicker texture help me not associate it directly with oatmeal, though it's the same idea. Adding in the chia seeds is a great way to get extra protein, fiber and omega's as well (you can't taste it)!
