How are you going to deal with the Halloween treats? I walked into the store to get groceries the other day and I was in shock seeing all the candy. Now remember, I have been out of the country for the last five Halloweens. Before we left I had a different lifestyle and it included a TON of sugar, so Halloween was an awesome time to get all my favorite candy bars in perfect sizes for CHEAP.
Now, on a different journey of health I see all the sugar and I don't even know what to think. My man keeps reading book after book on the effects sugar has on our bodies and the bottom line is that it's NOT GOOD FOR US. So what do you do as a family with Halloween candy? Do you eat tons of candy this time of year? Do you let your kids eat all the candy?
I was reading a couple ideas from other moms. One mom says she buys the candy from her kids, and then throws it away. Then they can get something with the money that isn't pure sugar. Another mom says she lets her kids pick out a few of the treats and then she throws the rest away.
I'm also not naive to think that it will end here, I know that pumpkin pie and Christmas cookies are also right around the corner. Do you have a game plan? Who will be in control? You or the sugary treats?
I bring this up for us to be aware of because the average American gains about 10 pounds from now until New Year. That's by consuming 35,000 calories more than our bodies need. I'm not saying we don't celebrate the upcoming Holidays, I'm just wondering what some alternatives are to filling our bodies (and our children's bodies) with sugar as a way to celebrate…
