What is a Beachbody Coach?
Have you ever seen the infomercials on late at night for exercise programs such as P90X, Insanity, TurboFIRE, PiYo, 21 Day Fix, T25, Brazil Butt Lift, Les Mills Combat, and a few others? Or maybe you have a friend who is doing one of these programs? These programs are all created by a company called Beachbody. Beachbody’s mission statement is to “End the trend of obesity and help people live healthy and fulfilling lives.” They not only produce exercise videos, but also have created a 21 day detox, and have supplements to help with weight loss and healthy living. A Beachbody Coach is someone who has joined with this company as an independent representative for the company. They don’t just promote/sell the products but they also help their customers reach their fitness goals. (Basically we lost weight or got healthier with the programs, and wanted to pay it forward. For some it’s a hobby, and some it’s a part/full-time job from home.)
So where does the Beachbody Coach come in? It can come in from several ways…
1. If you ordered your program from calling the number on TV, or if you went online and ordered it, you will be assigned a coach. If you log into your teambeachbody.com account you will see who your coach is on your top right side of the screen, and how to contact them if you choose to do so.
2. If you know a friend who is a coach they will refer you to their site and you will order from them, this links them to you as your coach. All coaches have a ID number.
3. Sometimes people are assigned a coach when they order, and later realize they have a friend who is a coach or find someone who is a coach they would like to work with. If that happens the customer can email to ask to have the coach of their choice.
So who are these coaches?
A Beachbody Coach is someone who loves the products and wants to help others get healthier using them. The term ‘coach’ can be misleading, because a coach is not necessarily a fitness professional or a fitness trainer. Think of a coach, cheering someone on and providing accountability. That is a good picture of what a coach is. (Some are trainers, and instructors, but most are just everyday people working regular jobs doing this on the side because they are passionate about it.) And 9/10 times they are someone like me who has lost weight using these exact programs. That is me below…
Coaches come in all shapes and sizes. Some coaches are super fit and live for fitness, while other coaches are content to just feel good in their jeans and be healthy. Some have never been overweight, and some have lost 100+ pounds. And some people decide to become a coach when they first start their weight loss journey as a way to keep themselves accountable and motivate others while they are losing weight.
What does the coach do?
This depends on the coach. Some coaches host local ‘fit-clubs’ where you can come and work out with them to one of our videos, most coaches run monthly challenge (or accountability) groups online or locally, many coaches have inspirational Facebook pages, and much more. (Remember most coaches are doing this in their spare time so they are also working, raising a family, being active the in community, etc…)
The coaches goal is to help support you to get the most out of your program. To answer questions and provide a sense of community as you work towards your goals. The coach does not set up meal plans and exercise plans for you, that would be out of their scope of practice, but all Beachbody programs come with an exercise schedule and nutrition guide provided for you so this is where you get those specific details.
If you bought your exercise program on EBay or Craigslist can you still have a coach?
This depends on the coach. Some coaches have very strict requirements that you purchase from them in order to be in their challenge/accountability group. (Remember they are investing their time to help you, so the commission they make from people purchasing the program through them compensates them for their time. This is the financial side, but the other side is to give you the best chance of success the coach will usually have recommended a program and Shakeology that fit your lifestyle to optimize your results. Challenge packs are a bundle you can get that gets you a discount on your program and Shakeology. Every coach runs their business and groups a little differently.) And then other coaches will be glad to still help you with your program. Some may require you have Shakeology for certain challenges to go along with your exercise program, and some don’t. Communicate with the person you are wanting to work with to see what expectations they have.
Do Beachbody coaches get paid?
Beachbody coaches do make a commission on products purchased through their online site. The cost is the same to the customer, but the coach makes 25% on the purchase. The orders are filled by the Beachbody company and have the same 30 day money back guarantee that you would have if you ordered through Beachbody directly. Many coaches host online accountability groups and do other fun things to help encourage their customers as they work through the programs- this is how they are compensated.
This is why if you ask to join a challenge group with a coach they will ask you if you are already working with a coach. If you are, they will encourage you to stay with the coach that has been helping and investing in you. If you don’t have a coach they will tell you how to set them up as your coach. The reason being most coaches invest a lot of time trying to help people, and so if/when you would decide to purchase something it’s a way for them to be compensated for their time. (If you are linked to another coach that coach gets the commission.)
Beyond the general commissions there are coaches who decide to build a team of people who are coaching others. They may go from just helping others as a hobby to make an extra $300-$500 a month, to this being a part-time or full-time income for them. Those coaches are helping others build a successful coaching business as well as continuing to help people get healthy.
